•1 December 2009 • Leave a Comment

Here he have another of the Sentinels for my Imperial Guard army, this time its the armoured one, this version brings a metal autocannon, that I replaced with a Heavy Stubber Autocannon from the Death Korps. The pilot its designed again with the top half from a Korps soldier.

Tyranids : Part 1

•30 November 2009 • Leave a Comment

Here we have a little hive commissioned to kharak, the miniatures of this army will be updated in a month, adding new creatures and redesigning some others, the customer asked us to paint two battalions, as the first part in a bigger commission, he will ask for the rest of the army when the new miniatures are out. The custumer choose the painting scheme, creature armour’s in red tones, and toasted white on the skin, the miniatures are painted in the advanced modality from kharak. I must point out that the Carnifexs had some mistakes in their parts design, the top part of their shell doesn’t fit in the rest of the miniature, so i had to use some green stuff to fill all the gaps and give some shape to the parts that are moved away from its intended position.

Some time for myself

•24 November 2009 • Leave a Comment

All along these months I have been doing commissions form Kharak Studios, without painting any miniature for myself or making masterclass miniatures, i have now some time to invest in the hobby and i will be doing some projects, three of them will be doing some warhammer armies for myself. I will be doing some masterclass jobs too and I will start a project to submit it to the next games day and try to gain the golden demon, it will not be easy because the painting level in spain its quite high and although i can paint at that level wining the golden demon in spain have become most of a fight for the most original idea than the painting quality, as all the miniatures submitted are amazing.

I will be gradually showing the outcome on these high level painted miniatures, as this painting level is not asked for in kharak because of its high price due to the time and level it requires. Besides its time to show you some miniatures painted at the max level posible, after all this time showing kharak commissions. So be attentive!

The Death Korps of Krieg : Scout Sentinel

•24 November 2009 • Leave a Comment

The first miniature of one of my warhammer 40k armies, i always liked the looks form the german army in the WWII and this division from the imperial guard looks pretty much like them, as a futuristic version, but lets get on bussines.

This firts miniature its an imperial guard sentinel, on its scout version, with some modifications to make it fit on the death korps, there is no official version on this division so it will require a little bit more work to fit it.

On the pilot i used the upper body part form a death koprs, for this matter forgeworld have some bits apart from full soldiers that come handy for this conversion. For the weaponry i used a Heavy Stubber Autocannon that its the krieg verson from the imperial guard heavy autocannon. I fitted in in the lower Sentinel section and I added a flamer on the main weapon zone. The only weapon that will be used will be the flamer, the Autocannon its only there for the looks.

The bases for this army will be based on a wrecked and neglected world, where all the terrain its muddy because of the constant raining and the vegetation its claiming the ruined cities. In this Sentinel, one of the four i will be doing, I fitted a part from a wrecked building surrounded by a dead and muddy terrain, making clear that the Sentinel’s weight its noted on the groud, this way the miniature its more immersed in its base.

When choosing the scheme, i used and will use on all the army the official scheme form the 158th Krieg regiment, that can be found in the Imperial Armour volume 5. As I will be playing a lot with this army, I will give them quite a lot of detail, but not the Masterclass one, enough for make them look great and make all the details shine, but whitout getting myself into hard techniques like hight details battle damages or fine lights. I still have to add some details to this miniature, like its regiment insignias, number model, etc. But i will do these details once I have my full army done. Here you have some pictures!

Vampire Counts: Bretonian Style

•24 November 2009 • 3 Comments

One of the commissions i have done for Kharak its a vampire count army set in bretonia, for that commission i have used bretonian bits to give them the right look, the custormer also gave me some Gamezone miniature to give his army a more unique look.

All the army was painted in the advanced mode that its quite cheap in the services offered by Kharak and give the miniatures a professional look, sometimes even better that the one we can see in the games workshop web, its the most demanded paint mode. I can paint at the Masterclass level, but i will talk about that in the future, now its time for the vampire counts.

As i had said i used some bits to make the conversion, on the skeletons, the grave guards where done starting with the bodys of the bretonian men-at-arms to give them a tougher look, the heads where done mixing the heads from the vampire count skeletons and the helms from the bretonian bits, for the weaponts, two handed swords, the ones from the vampire count grave guards where used. I had to cut here and there and use some green stuff to fit all the parts and give them a good looking aspect.

For the ordinary skeletons, the main idea was that they are from the remains scattered on the battlefields, some remains from here an there, so i used most of the bits on the skeletons box set and modified them to fit the bretonian helmets and the shields from the men-at-arms.

Both on the grave guards and the skeleton warriros where painted to give them an aged look and the metals rusty by time.
The zombies didn’t got any conversion, but the customer wanted me to make the two last rows on each unit look like them were just getting out from their graves.
On the black knights, the customer wanted them to have a greenish ghostly look, like the shadows army on the lord of the rings. So they would have black armors weared by ghostly horses and knights.
For the blood knigths, we used gamezone miniatures like on the black knights, i have painted them red like the ones on games workshop.
About 120 minuatures is the vampire count army that I got asked to paint, and i must say its quite impresive as a whole.

IMG_0807Here we have a little commission I made one day for my friend Eelaar to show him how i paint, he is working on his Frogeworld’s Red Scorpion army now and wanted to know how to paint them, for a day I showed him how to bring live to these marines painting this miniature. I was loyal to the official scheme that we can see in the Siege of Varks books from Frogeworld.

I AM BACK

•22 October 2009 • Leave a Comment

Hello! I’m back again, it has been a long time since i posted a new entry in this blog, but i have been very busy, here

you have a little summary!

Khrak Studios had several commissions during this time, and i had to paint a lot.

For example i had painted the Space Ork battalion from Black Reach, i painted them with a quick technique, so their price

would not be high and they can be sold easely on Ebay. In the gallery we can also see a Warhammer Fantasy Orc and Goblins

army that where painted with te same technique as de Space Orks, putting a little more attention to its main miniature,

the warboss on wyvern.

After this green tide i had more commissions from Kharak, i’m still working on some of them and i have to get all the

miniatures for some others. One of those who have been completed are several Chaos heroes for Warhammer Fantasy, all of

them paintend in our ‘Eavy Metal quality and painted in accordance to our customer desires, for the Garlauch dragon for example, he wanted an nurglish style on it, that’s why it doesn’t have the official scheme.

One of the commissions that are being worked on it’s a large Vampire Counts army that have to be like a Betronian army fallen in battle. I have used a lot of sprues from the two armys to give live or death to the bretonians, at that moments a Grave Guard battalion, and 12 Gamezone Dire Wolves, the customer didn’t liked Citadel ones.

I will be back to this blog and to a blog in spanish to keep you updated as soon as i get more miniatures painted, and i have a lot of them to do!

Invasion of Poland in the colors of the Imperial Guard: END

•14 August 2009 • Leave a Comment

The last miniatures on this commission are the armored vehicles, a Leman Russ, a Chimera transport and a Bassilisk, the scheme I had to adapt for this vehicles is the one from the 2nd Panzer Division of 1939. This scheme just have a single tone so they where quite quick to paint, I started with a darker base and lightened it to reach the tone that can be seen on the illustrations and documentals from the panzer divisions in the poland invasion. I have made the battle weathering so it looked like the one that can be seen on the pictures, i just used some washes made with mixtures of citadel paints, and slight shellings on the areas that are more easy to be rubbed, I gave them only a slight weathering because as on the pictures the division was quite new, had never got into combat before and the vehicles had very little damage, just slight scratch and sand dirt. For the bassilisk I have made a little conversion, I had to add a leather canvas over his big cannon and some plants over it.

Here you have some pictures, and altought I am working on several projects right now, from Space Orks to a Orcs and Goblins army, including an own warhammer Imperial army project based on Sylvania that will be fully customized for myself, i will be on a little vacations until the end of August and then i will be back with some pictures of this projects and a lot more.

Best Regards!!!

Now its time to show you the command squad from this commission. This little command squad is formed by and imperial commisar, a fleet Officer, a master gunner and a Astropath. For each one I have had to adapt different uniforms based on ones form the Reich. For the commisar i chosed the ‘Eavy Metal oficial one and adapted it to the colors from the Gestapo, for the fleet Officer i adapted the ones from the Oberstleutnant, for the master gunner I used the uniform from the SS Rottenführer, Waffen SS division, the same ones used on the Kraskin troops, and for the Astropath I adapted the SS Gruppenführer uniform. For the heraldry, medals and insignias I used the equivalent colors from the Reich. Certainly  this color scheme for the HQ and the rest of the troop have made this army very interesting and striking.

The last commission its about Imperial Guard, our customer asked us to paint his army with the uniform scheme from the german soldiers of the World War II, from Poland’s invasion campaing to be precise. Having this I get to work and I started with the iron legion, I placed their heavy weaponry and their AT launcher soldiers on 60mm bases to give them more atmosphere, all the soldiers from the iron legion where painted with an adapted replica to the imperial guard from the 2nd regiment from Rozart company of 1939. This miniatures in their left arm have a simbol that looks like the Sowilo rune, the sun rune. To give them more german atmosphere I decided to give them and armband that looks like the one from the Waffen SS.

The next troop group are the Karskin elite soldiers, I have had to adapt their armors and uniforms to the SS Rottenführer ones. For both regimetns the color choice was a great experience, I have had to get myself very well documented, I watched hundreds of pictures, designs and ilustrations, and color documentals from the WWII, although I like the Reich heraldry and scheme quite a lot, I wanted to document myself a lot to make the better adaptation possible from their colors.
